"Michael Richards exploded in anger as he performed at a famous L.A. comedy club last Friday, hurling racial epithets that left the crowd gasping, and TMZ has obtained exclusive video of the ugly incident.
Richards, who played the wacky Cosmo Kramer on the hit TV show "Seinfeld," appeared onstage at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood.
It appears two guys, both African-American, were in the cheap seats playfully heckling Richards when suddenly, the comedian lost it.
The camera started rolling just as Richards began his attack, screaming at one of the men, "Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass."
Richards continued, "You can talk, you can talk, you're brave now motherf**ker. Throw his ass out. He's a ni**er! He's a ni**er! He's a ni**er! A ni**er, look, there's a ni**er!"
The crowd is visibly and audibly confused and upset. Richards responds by saying, "They're going to arrest me for calling a black man a ni**er."
One of the men who was the object of Richard's tirade was outraged, shouting back "That''s un-f***ing called for, ain't necessary."
After the three minute tirade, it appears the majority of the audience members got up and left in disgust.
Attempts to reach Richard's reps were unsuccessful."

I think he would of spewed any bigotted remarks no matter what the persons ethnic back ground. Latino, asian, even just female for that matter. He was being heckled and blew a gasket. I think everyone has a certain ammount of prejudice in them. EVERYONE. But he also crossed the line because he obviously has anger issues. All you have to do to be a bigot is just think it. That is why I think we all are to a certain extent. Most people with any compassion will just think it and keep thier pie holes shut. This is not a perfect world and bigotry I am sorry to say has become a very evil part of it.

You just gotta love the double standard... where the hell is the outrage when someone refers to whites as a cracker or whatever? Racism is alive and well in ALL cultures; blacks are just as racist as whites, hispanics, indians, islams-- whatever the race. It would seem most play the race card when it's the most convenient to do so in the "politically correct" world that we've made for ourselves.
His only mistake is in apologizing after the fact for stating his true feelings as at least its honest (e.g., I have more respect for that even if I don't necessarily agree with it). Get down off the wood, someone else needs the cross...
This was not just a man who was very angry, and called a black person the n-word.
This man referenced slavery in his racist rant, " 50 years ago, we would have you upside down with a fork up your a**!!" AND he didn't just say the n-word once, he said it over and over, even after realizing exactly what he was saying, and how wrong it was, he STILL CONTINUED to say it!
The jewish people of America were outrages, as well they should have been, when Mel Gibson was spewing his racist garbage about them. African Americans have the same right to be angry, and outraged.
--For the poster above me, not ALL black people call white people racist names. Just like ALL white people don't use the n-word, or other racist names. You're probably comfortable thinking about black people in that way, because you are a racist! There are human beings in this world who strive to become enlightened, educated individuals, as opposed to you who is comfortable thinking, and acting like the lowest denominator.

Michael Richards does have lots to be angry about. His career has gone to the toilet (just like the heckler said) since he can't get a break since Seinfeld. Resigned to showcasing himself at the laugh factory with bad standup material that no one found particularly funny. Hoping that some producer would be in the house to rediscover this washup give him a comeback to the world of sitcom glory. His glory days have been long gone. The Seinfeld curse (for much of that supporting cast) is in full swing. Julia Louis Dreyfus' emmy win was a slight glimmer of what could be the break in the curse, if you've seen her new sitcom, it is hanging by a very thin thread and too on the verge of falling from grace. I see an E True Hollywood Story on the horizon.
anon9:38... I do believe slavery was abolished a bit more than 50 years ago. I think the reference is to around the mid 50's when the "negro" community fought to be equals. To alot of people they have never been equal nor will they ever be. That is an unfortunate result due to the ammount of same race killing they do every single day. Turn on the t.v. and watch the racism as one black man guns down another and calls it "gang justice". It is a very primitive behavior full of hate for a generation before them that fought so hard to be equal. Stop killing each other for YOUR ancestors sake. Equality works only if each side is willing to let go of our ugly history. I am white and I didn't have a slave, you are black and didn't have a master. Let's just speak on that for a minute, on equal ground, peace out.
